Each UKR is supported by Implementation Consultants providing the following assistance and
services:
• Feasibility Study (and possibly Environmental and Social Impact Assessement – ESIA)
• Detailed Design Report
• Tendering Process
• Supervision of Works and Assistance
All works are carried out in compliance with EU Directives. Albania has upgraded and expanded
strategic sector planning and aligned the laws and regulations with the EU acquis of chapter 27, in
particular with regards to Water Framework (WF), Urban Wastewater Treatment (UWWT**), Drinking
Water (DW*) and Groundwater (GW) Directives.
The Implementation Consultants supervise construction companies and assist the UKRs in implementing the works according to all national and international standards, laws and regulations.

The support measures provided by the WPIP / MIP V – Implementation Consultants contribute to the
Improved and affordable access of the population in the programme areas to safe drinking water supply, sewer services and increased centralized treatment of collected wastewater, monitored in accordance with EU Directives (Objective 2 – WPIP / MIP V Program)
