As part of the final phase of the Water Sector Perfomance and Investment Program / Municipal Infrastructure Program V (WPIP / MIP V) funded by EU, KfW and SECO, the Fier water distribution system is rapidly upgraded. Contractors have already laid 21,178 meters of new water pipelines, achieving 99,2% of the planned 21,936 meters. Two dedicated teams are working in tandem to ensure that the remaining distance is completed promptly, setting a high standard for efficiency and coordination on the project.
In parallel, consumer-focused infrastructure is progressing steadily. A total of 747 water meter boxes have been installed, accounting for 47.7% of the target. Of these, 185 units were added in the last week alone. Meanwhile, 829 water meters have been put in place, representing 38.3% of the planned installations. Notably, customer connections have surpassed expectations, with 1,506 households already linked to the new network—a 118.7% completion rate, exceeding original projections.
The supporting infrastructure is also taking shape. To date, 178 nodes have been installed—75.7% of the target—alongside 24 fire hydrants, reaching 88.9% of the goal. In terms of quality control, pressure testing has been conducted over 16,378 meters, ensuring the system’s performance and safety standards are met.
